Getting excited!

Well, only 5 more sleeps until the Goodlife 8K Road Race. I am getting so excited. I have been visualizing how the day is going to go. I find myself getting emotional when I think about all my friends that are coming down to do this with me. I am beyond touched that not only is my brother and his family coming but they registered as “Team Robynne” and they all plan to run the entire 8K with me. I was surprised to hear that, they are a racing family so I thought they would be running there own race but they aren’t, they are sticking it out with me,  Of course, then there is my own family. I am sure Trevor will be happy when I get this one under my belt…I might talk a lot about it right now. 🙂 He is always so patient with me. I am hoping Taylor can get herself a good time, she has always enjoyed running. Brooke is going to run with me and my brother’s family and Mitch will walk with my friends that are walking it. I look forward to seeing everyone at the finish line.

I am hoping to do it in an hour or a little under, if possible. I did a practice run a couple weeks ago and did it in 1:08 so I think it is an obtainable goal. I had to walk a bit that day so my hopes are to run/jog the entire 8K. My brother is going to help me with my pacing using his Garmin watch. I am going to focus on establishing a rhythm and speed I can maintain. I will also focus on my technique, correcting my posture and trying to keep my upper body relaxed. Most importantly, I am going to have fun and take it all in.

We are all staying downtown the night before the race. We are having a big group dinner then probably an early night for me. Sunday there is a potluck at my house with most of my friends that are able to stay for another night. We will all have something to celebrate! Yah! My next blog will be a reflection on how it all ended up playing out! Stay tuned!

I am a strong confident woman. I am a mom of 3 three amazing children, married to my BFF of 25 years, who loves weight training, yoga, hiking, cycling, and sometimes still the odd run. I am currently completing a MA in Interdisciplinary Studies with a specialization in Leadership in Organizational Culture at Royal Roads University, which will be completed in January 2020. I am currently working in higher education for BCcampus as a Project Manager for Collaborative Projects. I lead a coaching community of practice at my workplace which I developed as part of my Masters. I dabble a bit in coaching outside of work but will likely do more as I complete my Masters. I have big goals for myself, there are no limits to what is possible.
