Gaining Momentum – Losing Weight!


After a few frustrating weeks of no exercise and no weight loss I have been able to get back at my exercising and the weight is coming off at a steady pace. I am quickly approaching my last goal of 220 lbs which I was hoping to reach by March 6 but it looks like I will hit that this week or next week.

In my last blog I was questioning how I would persevere through the tough times but I am happy to say that I stuck to it. You always learn something out of those tough times, it was a challenging time but it made me a stronger person for it. I learned to be patient with myself, gained confidence in my ability to maintain my weight even when your body needs a break from the physical activities that you would normally do.

On Friday, I will be setting a new goal. I am currently weighing in at 221 lbs which is close enough for me to set a new goal at and start looking ahead at my 200 lbs goal. This is huge for me, 200 lbs is what I had in sight when I started Weight Watchers Online in January 2014 as my end goal weight. I CANNOT believe that I am almost there.  With that goal quickly in sight I now I realize that I  will need to look at my end-end goal which will likely be 175 lbs but as I entertain that idea I will keep my sights on my immediate goal of 200 lbs. I will set a new goal of hitting 200 lbs by May 22nd.  I think keeping my goals small and reachable in a short but realistic time is what has helped with my success. It’s always rewarding when you are consistently going in the right direction but not striving for unrealistic goals which can cause frustration and the possibility of giving up. I realized today that when the day does comes that I hit 189 lbs that I will have lost half of myself, I can’t wait for that day. That will be a blog worthy day!  I have not gained a pound since I started my journey on January 12, 2014.  That is crazy!

One of my new loves during this journey is Moksha Yoga Westshore. When I started hot yoga it brought me to a whole new level of relaxation and inner peace. My blood pressure has never been lower and I am losing weight consistently and feel stronger.  I can’t help but think Moksha yoga is a big part of this, in fact, in my first week of doing hot yoga 4 times a week I dropped 7 lbs.  I haven’t dropped 7 lbs in one week since the first week I started Weight Watchers Online and I didn’t expect to happen again but it did.  I don’t think that will happen again but it was an awesome surprise.  I have now introduced one of my daughters to Moksha and if I get my way my husband and oldest daughter will also incorporate this into their fitness routines.  It is awesome!

I lead a coaching community of practice at my workplace which I developed as part of my Masters. I dabble a bit in coaching outside of work but will likely do more as I complete my Masters. I have big goals for myself, there are no limits to what is possible.
